Funeral Director and Coroner

The University of Louisville Lions Eye Bank works very closely with funeral homes and coroners when families wish to donate. It is always our intent to perform the recovery as professionally, respectfully, and quickly as is humanly possible.  Should you ever have any questions or concerns about cornea/eye donation, please contact us at 502-852-5457.  The University of Louisville Lions Eye Bank has a licensed funeral director and embalmer on staff to assist you.

Many deaths the coroner is involved with may be suitable for cornea/eye donation.  The eye bank is trained to recover vitreous and blood samples, if requested.  If you are a coroner or deputy coroner and would like to offer this option to the families you serve, please call our referral line at 800-525-3546.
